CUSTOMER
SYMPTOM:
Customers may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination and the vehicle may
exhibit/set the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC):
● C1215-86 - Brake Light Switch - Signal Invalid.
Customers may comment on one or more of the following:
● "ABS" warning displays on the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
● Excessive force required when depressing the brake pedal when trying to start the engine.

Manufacturing issue
This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 08-275-25, date of issue August 21, 2025,
which should be removed from your files. All revisions are highlighted with **asterisks** and include
updated build dates.
This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) has also been released as a Rapid Service Update (RSU) 25-172,
date of issue August 21, 2025. All applicable RSU VINs have been loaded. To verify this RSU service
action is applicable to the vehicle, use VIP or perform a VIN search in DealerCONNECT/Service Library.
All repairs are reimbursable within the provisions of warranty.

DIAGNOSIS:
Using a Scan Tool (wiTECH) with the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures available in DealerCONNECT/
Service Library, verify all related systems are functioning as designed. If DTCs or symptom conditions, other
than the ones listed above are present, record the issues on the repair order and repair as necessary before
proceeding further with this bulletin.
If the customer describes any of the symptoms listed above in the customer symptom section, perform the
Repair Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
1. Is the vehicle on the RSU VIN list?
● YES >>> Proceed to Step 2.
● NO >>> This bulletin does not apply.
2. Connect the wiTECH to the vehicle.
3. Select the VIN and vehicle model, go to the topology, and select the ABS module Fig. 1.

8. Monitor through the graphs the behavior by slowly stepping on the brake pedal, when activating the first
stage of the switch the pressure should be up to 4 Bar (H1/ M1 / N4) and 6 Bar (B1) Fig. 6.

9. Is the Bar pressure greater than 4 Bar (H1/ M1 / N4) and 6 Bar (B1) Fig. 6?
a. YES>>> Proceed To Step 10.
b. NO>>> This bulletin has been completed. Use Inspection LOP (08-80-84-90) to close the active RSU.
10. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
NOTE: Wait at least two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge, before proceeding
to Step 11.
11. Remove the brake pedal switch from its seat by turning it counterclockwise, until it comes off the brake
pedal.
CAUTION!
Do not move the brake pedal at any time due to the risk of breaking the piece.
12. Position the switch on its seat on the pedal and turn it clockwise, until it is completely fixed (you will notice
the click of the lock).
13. Connect the negative battery terminal.
14. Clear DTCs.
15. Start the engine, place the transmission in Park "P" position and deactivate the parking brake.
16. Check the residual brake pressure again Fig. 7 by monitoring through the graphs the behavior by slowly
stepping on the brake pedal, when activating the first stage of the switch the pressure should be less than
or equal to 4 Bar (H1/ M1 / N4) and 6 Bar (B1) or less than or equal to 6 Bar (Renegade).
