Symptom/Vehicle Issue: Diagnostic Strategies For Brake System Control Module

(BSCM) Diagnostic Trouble Code(s) (DTC).

Customer Complaint/Technician Observation: Antilock brake system (ABS),

electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake (EPB) lights on cluster. Tech

may find the below DTCs.

C0502-00 – Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Circuit Low

C0503-00 – Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Circuit High

C0504-00 – Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Intermittent/Erratic

C0505-00 – Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Correlation

C0508-00 – Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Circuit Low

C0509-00 – Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Circuit High

C050A-00 – Right Front Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Circuit intermittent /

C0513-00 – Right Rear Wheel Speed Sensor “A” Range/Performance

Discussion: Upon further investigation, the technician may find a front DTC code on

the BSCM with a Powertrain Control Module (PCM)code on the front AND rear. For the

listed DTCs above, perform the BSCM diagnostics first. Once the BSCM code is

resolved, the PCM related DTC(s) should also be resolved (stored), and no further

repair is needed. However, if the PCM codes are still present (active) after resolving

the BSCM codes, perform their diagnostics next.
