Previous repairs for Park Lock Valve related faults were repaired by replacing the
transmission assembly as these parts were not released as a serviceable component.
Now that we have parts, service procedures and diagnostics in place we will be servicing
the PLV and Harness as needed to repair the vehicle instead of transmission assembly
replacement.

Cause

23-NA-176 was created to catch intermittent issues related to park position. If the
condition is current, status is "Undetermined State" with a position reading in-between
4.5 mm and 6.5 mm it is currently failed and does not require the born-on position to be
verified. Follow published diagnostics and repairs.
For intermittent conditions we can still check the born-on position.
23-NA-197 checks born on position to prevent making repairs on a transmission that
would have had to be replaced. Now that we can service park it may be determined that
park pawl actuator needs to be replaced in conjunction with repairs being made.

Correction
If born position is checked through TAC and determined that the park pawl actuator needs to be replaced, or
published diagnostics lead to replacement, here are some helpful tips.

shows you what you are trying to accomplish when feeding the park rod back into the transmission.
Transmission control module will need to be programmed with a VCI number from techline.
The new park pawl actuator will need to be fine-tuned to this transmission, and the calibration allows for the learn to
be performed
Park pawl actuator PUN will need to be characterized so take a picture of the PUN, it is 22 digits and etched/printed
very small. If the PUN is not characterized the vehicle may not start and we have to be able to start the vehicle to
perform the relearn. I cannot stress enough to make sure you get the correct PUN, if not the transmission will have
to come back out to get the number. It starts with PO.
Will need to run park lock valve learn after transmission control module reprogram and characterization, improper
calibrations in the TCM will result in a failure 2F01 when attempting to run the learn.
The harness part number is 24066648 and will need to be replaced as well if any retainers are broken when
removing.
