Technical Background
Software-related deviation in the Engine Sound Generator Control Module -J943- (diagnostic address 00C0).

CAUTION
Make sure to activate the parking brake when working on the vehicle. When working on the vehicle (for
example, when updating software or replacing control units) the vehicle functions may be influenced
before the work is fully completed. This can mean that the vehicle may not secure itself against rolling if it
is left unattended!
– Therefore, the vehicle must always be parked with the parking brake.
– Also, actively check before and after any faults, breaks, or work interruptions, that the parking brake is
still actuated.
– If a vehicle with rolling capability is needed as part of the work, make absolutely sure that an active
driving gear is not selected – instead, shift to Neutral.

NOTICE
DO NOT replace either Engine Sound Generator Module -RX21- and/or -RX22- for this concern before
performing the update outlined in this bulletin - replacement is not effective. Groundless replacements will
be debited!

technical bulletin does not apply.

If the campaign completion status is CLOSED, then no further action is required – in this case,
this technical bulletin does not apply.

If neither campaign is applicable to this vehicle, continue to step 2.

Through Guided Fault Finding (GFF), check the Software version number of the Engine Sound
Generator Control Module -J943- (diagnostic address 00C0)

If the Software version number is at 0015 or higher, then this technical bulletin does not apply.

‒

If the Software version number is lower than 0015, continue to step 3.

Update the vehicle software to ID.S 5.4.3 according to the instructions from technical bulletin 2080124
