* The vehicle is equipped with Audi connect functions that allow the vehicle’s key and authorized connect users
to remotely control and activate various vehicle functions.

Ay warnine

There is a risk of injury due to Audi connect remote control functions (e.g. HVAC blower fan running with
stationary air conditioning). This service info describes the procedure to deactivate and reactivate the
Audi connect remote control functions during a workshop visit. Observe this procedure for all work
carried out on the vehicle.

Technical Background

If the Audi connect remote control functions remain active during a workshop visit, there is a possibility that various
vehicle functions could be activated by the vehicle’s key and authorized users.

This includes the activation of the stationary air conditioning and thereby the HVAC blower fan for example.

Furthermore, active timers could already be programmed in the MMI having the same effect.

Audi connect remote control features and HVAC timers need to be disabled when working on the vehicle.

Setting workshop mode with the service portlet

Audi dealerships with access to the service portlet (via Group Retail Portal 5) can activate the “Workshop mode”
function after entering the chassis number.

Activating workshop mode is only possible if the customer has successfully completed the registration
process and is set as a key user.

Activating workshop mode:

1. Open service portlet.

2. Enter the chassis number in the search field and click on search.
3. Activate the “Workshop mode’ slider in the upper right.

4. Enter the current mileage of the vehicle.

Click Send.

Deactivating workshop mode:

Use the “Workshop mode” slider again to deactivate workshop mode.

Please note that the customer will not be able to use the remote control functions if you give the vehicle
back to him/her with workshop mode active. The customer will see the message “Workshop mode, not all
services available” (or similar) in the myAudi app.

Deactivate and reactivate the Audi connect functions
Option 1

If you do not have access to the service portlet, the Audi connect remote control functions can be deactivated in the
vehicle with the help of the privacy settings.

Vehicles from model year 2018 have the “Privacy settings” function in the MMI menu. The Audi connect services can
be deactivated and reactivated there.

Depending on vehicle type and equipment, you may find this function in the privacy section of the settings. Refer to
Owner's Manual.

Option 2
If the privacy settings are not available (Vehicles before MY 2018):
1. Remove the fuse of the Audi connect vehicle control master (data bus on board diagnostic interface, J533
(address word 0019) or the fuse for the control module for emergency call module and communication unit,
J949 (address word 0075)).

2. Remove the fuse of the affected system, e.g. HVAC blower.

3. After the work on the vehicle is completed, reinstall the fuses and clear the DTCs.

In addition to the remote control functions, note:
Deactivate active timers in the MMI.

Deactivate the auxiliary air conditioner, if active.
