This service bulletin applies to certain model year 2023-2025 Gladiator
and 2024-2025 MetroStar model emergency response chassis cabs built
between April 2024 and July 2025.
CONDITION:
Weldon Hercules HC 1.8 node giving timing errors when combined with
the Whelen Core and Core R.
CORRECTION:
Update OS to 1.10 on Herc HC 1.8 Node.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
V-mux Downloader Node OS (Firmware) Instructions
New Installation of V-mux Downloader:
1. To select the correct V-mux node OS files on a new installation of V-mux downloader, click on
Settings in the top menu bar and select “Node OS Versions”.

2. Under the “Default OS Path”, the program will default to the local location at
C:\Users\’YourUserName’\My Documents\V-mux, where ‘YourUserName’ in the file path is your
Windows login user name. All nodes should indicate “no OS file found”.
3. This folder path must be changed to a folder location of your choosing, specifically the folder
where you downloaded and saved the latest OS files from the Idex/Weldon website. This used to
provide the latest V-mux operating systems by clicking on the “Change…” button and selecting
the correct folder location and select “ok”.

4. After selecting the correct folder, all the most current OS versions should show up for each node.
If the node OS file you need still displays “no OS file found” you can click the button to the right of
that node and manually select the correct OS file in that same folder location. If you are not sure
which OS file to select, a relationship list is provided when the OS files are downloaded from the
Akron Brass website (https://www.akronbrass.com/weldon-v-mux-downloads).
***Be aware that manually selecting an OS file using the button to the right of the node will retain that
version of the OS for the respective node until the “Default OS Path” is reset to the correct location.
a. Example is the Hercules-HC node which may still show “no OS file found”. For this node
you need to click the button next to it and select the “vm6060.bin” file to avoid an error
message like the one shown in the 2nd image.

Updating to New OS Files on Existing Installation of V-mux Downloader:
1. First navigate to the local folder location C:\Users\’YourUserName’\AppData\Roaming\V-MUX
and delete the file named “DL File Resources.res”. This will ensure that all ties to a previous OS
file for each specific node are broken in the V-mux Downloader program.
2. When you reopen the program, you should see that all nodes indicate “no OS file found” after
deleting the above file.

3. Under the “Default OS Path”, the program will again default to the local location at
C:\Users\’YourUserName’\My Documents\V-mux, where ‘YourUserName’ in the file path is your
Windows login user name. This folder path must be changed to the folder used to provide the
latest V-mux operating systems from https://www.akronbrass.com/weldon-v-mux-downloads
by clicking on the “Change…” button, selecting the folder location where the OS files were
previously stored, and then click OK.

for each node. If the node OS file you need still displays “no OS file found” you can click the
button to the right of that node and manually select the correct OS file in that same network folder
location. If you are not sure which OS file to select, please contact Electrical Engineering.
