Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above equipped with factory subwoofer audio system may
exhibit a rattle from right loadspace trim panel at high audio system volumes. This may be due to loose and/or broken
attachments.
Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to
correct the condition.

Service Procedure
1. Remove the right loadspace trim panel. Refer to the WSM, Section 501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation.
2. Trim the loadspace panel in the area shown in Figures 1-2.

4. Remove the subwoofer and inspect the subwoofer for broken plastic mounting tabs. Refer to the WSM, Section
415-00 Information and Entertainment System. (Figure 5)

5. Are any mounting tabs broken?
1. Yes - replace the subwoofer. Proceed to Step 6.
2. No - proceed to Step 6.
6. Inspect the top mounting point of the subwoofer for a crack in the metal, as seen in Figure 6. Is the metal mounting
point cracked? (Figures 6-7)

1. Yes - proceed to Step 7.
2. No - proceed to Step 8.
7. Repair the mounting point using the subwoofer reinforcement kit, following the installation instructions included in
the kit. Proceed to Step 9.
NOTE: The new retaining nut is rubber insulated, the factory retaining nut may be rubber or metal.
8. Is the retaining nut in the metal bracket rubber? (Figure 8)

1. Yes - proceed to Step 9.
2. No - replace the retaining nut with the updated rubber version.
9. Reassemble the vehicle, adding foam tape where necessary to limit loadspace panel vibration.
