Summary
Certain IONIQ 5 N (NE EV N) vehicles are equipped with a Left Foot Braking (LFB) feature designed for use on performance roadways, such as racetracks. This bulletin provides instructions to update the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) software to retain the LFB feature or remove it based on the customer’s preference. Regardless of whether the feature is retained or removed, this VCU update must be completed on all vehicles to ensure the proper ROM ID path for future VCU updates, and, in the case of LFB removal, a sticker must be applied in the owner’s manual to indicate the vehicle is not equipped with the LFB feature. The customer’s consent to retain or remove the feature must be documented following the process outlined in this bulletin prior to applying the VCU update to the vehicle.

IMPORTANT
Dealers must perform this service campaign on all affected vehicles prior to customer retail delivery
and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair.
TECHNICIAN MUST CONSULT WITH THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND CAPTURE A PHOTO OF
THE SIGNED LFB OWNER CONSENT FORM BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE SERVICE
PROCEDURE.
Access the “Vehicle Information” screen via WebDCS to identify open campaigns.
Description: Certain IONIQ 5 N (NE EV N) vehicles are equipped with a Left Foot Braking (LFB) feature
designed for use on performance roadways, such as racetracks. This bulletin provides instructions to
update the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) software to retain the LFB feature or remove it based on the
customer’s preference. Regardless of whether the feature is retained or removed, this VCU update
must be completed on all vehicles to ensure the proper ROM ID path for future VCU updates, and, in

NOTICE
You must initially perform the GDS ECU update in Auto Mode.
• If the ECU update starts but then fails in Auto Mode, perform the update in Manual Mode
to recover.
NOTICE
Ensure the vehicle’s battery charge is above 11.0 Volts and the tablet’s battery charge is above
30% before performing a software update to avoid update failure.

Turn OFF all lamps (do NOT leave head lamp switch in auto mode) and all accessories.

Perform update with the ignition switch in the ON position.

1.
Perform the ECU update in Auto Mode.

Refer to TSB # 25-GI-011H, “ECU
Update Procedure for Tablet-Based
GDS-Smart”, for additional information.
2.
Verify the ROM ID by selecting the VCU
system to scan the vehicle’s current ROM ID.
•
If the owner has elected to remove the
LFB feature, select event # 1327 (A).
•
If the owner has elected to retain the LFB
feature, select event # 1326 (B).

Make the selection carefully. If the LFB
feature is removed, it CANNOT be
reversed.

Check the current ROM ID version and
compare it to the ROM ID Information
table before attempting to perform the
software update.

If the update fails, remove the power
connector from the in-cabin fuse box for
at least 5 seconds. Reassemble and
retry the update.

complete, follow the prompts on the screen to
cycle the ignition OFF for at least 10 seconds
to reset the control unit (certain models may
take up to 30 seconds).

Perform an All Systems Fault Code search
and erase DTC history that had incidentally
occurred from the ECU update.
6.
Place the vehicle in Ready mode to confirm
proper operation.
7.
If the owner elected to retain the LFB feature,
the service procedure is now complete.
If the owner elected to remove the LFB
feature, proceed to the Owner’s Manual
Sticker Placement procedure on page 11.
