This article supersedes TSB 25-2124 to update the affected model years, customer symptom, causal part and Service Procedure enhancements. Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P2796 and/or P2797 stored in the secondary on-board diagnostic control module B (SOBDMB) and/or the secondary on-board diagnostic control module C (SOBDMC). This may be due to the software in the SOBDMB and/or the SOBDMC.

Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit an illuminated powertrain malfunction
(wrench) indicator with DTC P2796 and/or P2797 stored in the SOBDMB and/or the SOBDMC. This may be due to
the software in the SOBDMB and/or the SOBDMC.
Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to
reprogram the SOBDMB and SOBDMC to the latest software.
Warranty Status: Warranty coverage limits and policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are
determined by the identified causal part.

Service Procedure
1. Connect a battery charger DCA-8000 to the 12-volt battery.
NOTE: To prevent the battery saver mode from activating on the vehicle, make sure the negative cable of the
charger is installed on a chassis or engine ground, and not the 12-volt battery negative terminal. Do not have
the vehicle plugged into high voltage battery charger during programming. This can cause incorrect module
programming. Make sure only the 12-volt battery charger is installed.
2. Reprogram the SOBDMB and SOBDMC using the latest level software level of the FDRS scan tool.
3. Review Freeze Frame / Snapshot data from when DTC P2796 and/or P2797 initially triggered. Did the
"EXTERIOR_TEMP" PID read 32°F (0°C) or less when the DTC triggered?
1. Yes - proceed to Step 4.
2. No - Refer to the WSM, Section 302-01 for additional diagnostics outside of this article. Repair is
complete.
4. Clear DTCs. Road test the vehicle in conditions where the vehicle can remain above 10 mph (16 km/h) for at least
1 minute.
5. Retest DTCs. Are any DTCs present in the SOBDMB or SOBDMC?
1. Yes - refer to the WSM, Section 302-01 for additional diagnostics outside of this article. Repair is
complete.
2. No - repair is complete.
