PURPOSE:
To clarify when evidence of Oil Change Maintenance is required for Camshaft and/or Rocker Arm replacements.
The repairs must now be pre-approved through the Powertrain Service Center (PTSC) Pre-Approval program for
ALL Dealers. This new requirement for Camshaft and/or Rocker Arm replacements applies to ALL Model Year
2019 - 2021 Ram Promaster (VF), RAM 1500 Pickup (DS), Dodge Challenger (LA), Dodge Charger (LD) and
Chrysler 300C (LX) vehicles with a PentaStar Classic 3.6L engine (Sales Code ERB) for all Warranty (W) and
Mopar (M) claim types. Please see the LOPs below.

TIMING:
Effective with replacements beginning on or after January 26, 2026.

ACTION:
The Basic Limited Warranty covers customer’s vehicles only if the vehicle is operated and maintained in the
manner described in the Owner’s Manual. The Owner’s Manual advises that customer’s vehicles are equipped with
an engine oil change indicator system. The oil change indicator system will remind customers that it is time to take
their vehicle in for scheduled maintenance. The “Oil Change Required” message will display in the instrument
cluster to indicate the next schedule oil change interval.
Prior to replacing a Camshaft and/or Rocker Arm on all model year 2019 - 2021 Ram Promaster (VF), RAM 1500
Pickup (DS), Dodge Challenger (LA), Dodge Charger (LD) and Chrysler 300C (LX) vehicles, with a PentaStar
Classic 3.6L engine (Sales Code ERB), please submit evidence of Oil Maintenance to the Powertrain Service
Center through the PTSC Program link in DealerCONNNECT using path: DealerCONNECT> Service> Warranty
Administration> Pre-Approval Programs> Powertrain Service Center. The following are acceptable:
• Prior three Maintenance Records
OR
• Images with the Head Covers removed showing NO SLUDGE

In addition to the normal required images, reports and worksheets, the following will also be required as an
attachment:
• Copy of current Repair Order
• Images of the Camshaft and/or Rocker Arm showing the damaged area(s)
• ALL images in the request MUST HAVE a sticky note in the image showing the last 8 digits of
the VIN and the current open RO number
WARNING: Failure to properly inspect and maintain vehicles could result in a component
malfunction and affect vehicle handling and performance.
Claim Submission:
When submitting a Warranty (W) or Mopar (M) claim type for a Camshaft (LOP 09-05-01-XX) and/or Rocker
Arm (LOP 09-80-01-XX) replacement, the above pre-approval is required.

The claim will reject for Message Code RP3 (Assembly replacement require pre-authorization by the
Powertrain Service Center) and “PA” should be entered in the Authorization Number field in the Claim Entry
screen for Warranty Contact Center review and approval.
NOTE: The Powertrain Pre-Approval Matrix has been updated to assist dealers in determining components
requiring Powertrain Pre-Approval. The Matrix can be found in DealerCONNECT > Service> Warranty
