Procedure
1. On the vehicle touchscreen, touch Controls (vehicle icon) > Software, and then scroll down to display the
vehicle software version.
•
If the vehicle software version is FSD (Supervised) 14.2.1.25 or later, or 2025.44.3 or later, continue to the
next step.
•
If the vehicle software version is FSD (Supervised) 14.2.1.25 or earlier, or 2025.44.3 or earlier, update to
version FSD (Supervised) 14.2.1.25 or later, or 2025.44.3 or later, and then continue to the next step
(refer to Service Manual procedure 00020003).
2. Remove the LH front wheel cover (refer to Service Manual procedure 34015022).
3. Use a breaker bar to loosen the LH front halfshaft bolt (24 mm, 300 Nm) (Figure 1).
Figure 1
4. Remove the LH front halfshaft bolt through the center of the wheel (Figure 2), and then discard the bolt.
Figure 2

5. Use an assistant to push the LH front halfshaft toward the LH front hub while simultaneously rotating the halfshaft
until the facesplines are locked (Figure 3).
NOTE: The halfshaft will no longer rotate once the facesplines are aligned.
Figure 3
6. With the assistant holding the halfshaft with the facesplines locked, install and hand-tighten a new LH front
halfshaft bolt through the center of the wheel (Figure 4).
CAUTION: When tightening the axle bolt, avoid applying force on the bolt head in the inboard vehicle
direction to prevent unseating the face splines.
CAUTION: The adhesive thread patch on the new halfshaft bolt has a curing time of approximately 2
minutes. Do not allow more than 2 minutes to pass before continuing to the next step.

7. Tighten the LH front halfshaft bolt (24 mm, 300 Nm) (Figure 5).
CAUTION: Make sure the splines on the hub and halfshaft are properly aligned before tightening the halfshaft
bolt.
Figure 5
8. Install the LH front wheel cover (refer to Service Manual procedure 34015022).
9. Repeat steps 2–8 for the remaining halfshaft bolts.
10. Drive the vehicle to an empty area of the parking lot with at least 25 feet of empty space in front of and behind the
vehicle.
WARNING: The following routine builds high motor torque at a standstill. DO NOT perform the following
steps indoors or without adequate space in front of or behind the vehicle in case of sudden vehicle movement
during the routine.
11. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle (refer to Service Manual procedure Toolbox 3 (Connect and
Disconnect)).
WARNING: Make sure the laptop is in a safe location in the vehicle in case of sudden vehicle movement
during the routine.
12. In Toolbox, click the Actions/Autodiag tab, type “double” into the search field, click Double Pedal Torque
Check, and then read through the instructions before starting the routine.
WARNING: Make sure to carefully read and understand the instructions before performing this routine.
13. When ready to perform the test, click Run, and perform the test as instructed in the routine.
WARNING: This routine builds high motor torque at a standstill. DO NOT perform this test indoors or without
adequate space in front of or behind the vehicle in case of sudden vehicle movement during the routine.
NOTE: Do not change the routine torque cycle and timeout fields.
NOTE: During the routine, the vehicle will “squat” under torque load. Torque will be removed once the
accelerator pedal is released. The vehicle should not move forward or rearward during this routine.
•
If the test is successful, and no grinding noise is heard, skip to the next step.
•
If the routine fails, but no grinding noise is heard, rerun the routine.
•
If the test fails and grinding noise is heard, perform the following:
