Issue: Some of the vehicles listed in the Model statement above may exhibit a grunt-type noise from the front brakes during initial brake applications that goes away after the brakes warm-up. A video demonstrating this
condition is available in the Service Procedure below. This may be due to the front brake discs and pads.
Action: For vehicles that meet all of the criteria in the Issue and Model statements, follow the Service Procedure to replace the front and rear brake discs, replace the front brake pads, and reprogram the ABS module.

Nautilus Front Brake Grunt Noise
1. Review the video above. Is the brake noise exhibited by the customer vehicle similar to the noise in the video?
1. Yes - proceed to Step 2.
2. No - this article does not apply. Refer to WSM, Section 206 for normal diagnostics outside of this article.
2. Replace the front brake discs and front brake pads. Refer to WSM, Section 206-03 Front Disc Brake > Removal and Installation.
3. Replace the rear brake discs. Refer to WSM, Section 206-04 Rear Disc Brake > Removal and Installation.
4. Using the latest version of FDRS, check for an ABS module software update. Is an ABS module software update available?
1. Yes - proceed to Step 5.
2. No - proceed to Step 6.
5. Download and run the "ABS - Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module Software Update" application. On hybrid vehicles, follow all on-screen instructions carefully to complete all required coordinated module software
update(s), including:
• PCM
• SOBDMC
• BECM
6. Download and run the "Front Brake Disc and Brake Pad Repair or Replacement" application and follow all FDRS prompts carefully.
