DESCRIPTION
This article is intended to provide information for how to program International Engines that have been sold to another company and installed in a chassis
that does NOT have an International VIN Number. This may include Detroit Series 40 engines, Perkins, Street Sweepers, Cranes, Fire Trucks,
Generators, Blower motors, and more.
*NavKal does not program these engine module types. Therefore, programming for these engine module types will only be supported for
International dealers. This programming process no longer requires remote support.
REPAIR STEP(s)
1. Connect your modules (ECM only, ECM/IDM, ECM/DCU...) and the computer to the programming station.
A. If you have an ECM that is already programmed, connect with ServiceMaxx 1708 or NED, and make a template to back up the parameters before
connecting to the new module.
NOTE: You must be connected to the exact module you wish to program before running the DLC Get tool. This tool will pull required
internal info from the connected module which International requires to create the programming file.
Any supplied programming file from international will only work on the exact physical ECM from which the DLC Get report was
created.
2. Click HERE to download the dlcGet software
A. The downloaded file must be unzipped for it to work. EZTech PC's are preinstalled with 7-Zip. Unzip a file by right-clicking on the file and selecting
7-Zip > Extract here
Or, reference IK2600219 for further support on unzipping a file. Best practice is to extract the DLC Get and put it in its own folder on the desktop.
B. Once unzipped, please run the exe file (titled "dlcGet"
).
3. When the dclGet program opens, you will see this:
A. Select your communication cable from the drop-down menu
B. Check box for "Initialization"
C. Click the "Start" button
D. Follow all on-screen prompts
4. When the dlcGet is done running, it will produce an output file (in the same location that you ran the dlcGet file from - ie Desktop or Downloads). So, if
you followed best practice and saved your DLC Get file to its own folder on the desktop, then you would find the output file in that same folder now.
A. The output file will be in the form of a .xml file.
B. Zip that output file and attach it to the case file you will create in step 5.
5. Start a case file (use one of two ways listed below). Be sure to provide the full 14 digit ESN, miles, hours, fuel (contact customer if values are needed),
and the zipped output file from running the dlcGet - put that all in the case file.
A. Open a case file following this document. CMS Case open.pdf
B. Or start an EZ Tech support case from IK2900030
6. Based on the information you provided in the case, International will create a custom programming file, zip it, and attach it to your case. You can
reference IK2600219 for instructions on how to use this custom programming file to program the ECM, ECM/IDM, ECM/DCU....
Once you receive the programming file perform the following:
1. Open your case file, and download the attachment with the ESN listed through either the paperclip or files method.

2. When prompted, save the file to the Desktop.

3. Right-click on the file from the desktop, and click Extract All...

4. Click Extract when the Extraction Wizard comes up.

6. When the program opens,
select your cable, and then click
Start.
7. After programming is
completed, connect to
ServiceMaxx / NED apply
ServiceMaxx / NED Template if
one was created.

It is recommended to use the International programming station when programming engine modules for engines that are not installed in an International
chassis.
