* Transmission position P (parking lock) cannot be selected. The vehicle therefore cannot be locked.

lights up. DTC DA:812C - P288B00, P1D4700.

Try to reproduce the customer complaint (based on the description/cause of the issue), so that it can be

clearly assigned to this TSB. The following repair must only be carried out if all the criteria (model/type,

chassis number, engine/motor, gearbox code, PR number(s), part number, software version, code, etc.)

apply exactly. Otherwise, this solution will not eliminate the problem and repeat repairs may be

necessary. In such a case, the warranty claim may be rejected, and the cost of the parts may be charged

back.
Please perform the software update described in TSB 2079690, 00 Combined software update 03.10.00/C

(28.13.01) KD2.
Then proceed as follows regarding the message “P cannot be selected” in the instrument cluster:
Switch off the ignition so that the instrument cluster and the transmission position display on the selector lever

turn off.
Then wait three minutes without operating the vehicle; for example, do not open any of the doors and do not

use the MMI.
Please start the vehicle in combustion mode, drive forward approx. 20 inches in transmission position S and

then reverse approx. 20 inches in transmission position R (you can also do this in the opposite order).
Then press the P button on the selector lever.
Please inform the customer that the electronic parking brake (EPB) will continue to function and can

be used to park the vehicle.
