This technical bulletin must be read in its entirety before attempting the software update.

– If software updates or flash campaigns/actions are performed on a vehicle, a battery charger with at

least 70A charging current MUST be used in order to avoid problems during the updates and flash

campaigns/actions.

– This technical bulletin only applies to the vehicle groups specified above with PR code 8AR,

The customer may report one or more of the following symptoms:

Navigation system malfunctions

AM/FM/HD Radio preset loss or malfunctions

App-Connect malfunctions

Bluetooth malfunctions

Infotainment system will not turn on/boot up

Infotainment system freezes or reboots
MIB Display image(s) distorted

Sirius/XM malfunction

Volume control(s) malfunction

Voice control malfunction

Abnormal noise(s) from audio system

WiFi hotspot malfunction

Poor hands-free call clarity

This procedure resolves the concern(s) specified above by updating the information Electronics Module J794- to the latest software level 1990.

Service

Software Update Procedure

•
Connect the MTRMSP0702 battery maintainer/charger to the vehicle’s 12 volt battery.
•
Switch the ignition to the ON position.
•
Switch ON the Infotainment System.
•
Check the infotainment software level by pressing and holding the square home key on the left side of

the touchscreen menu to access “Service Mode”.
•
Once in Service Mode, select “Software update/versions” from the touchscreen menu.
•
Select “System information” from the touchscreen menu.
•
If the “Software” level is lower than 1990, proceed with this Technical Bulletin.
•
If the “Software” level is greater than or equal to 1990, this work procedure does not apply.
Create USB with SD/USB Creator

•
Refer to VOS-25-58 – Flash Media Creator (FMC) for D3 Edgebox (Replaces SD creator).
•
Create USB part number 3G8.919.360.GA
Update Programming

Section 1 (USB)

•
Insert USB 3G8.919.360.GA into port 1 of the USB connection in the front center console.
•
Press and hold the rounded square home key on the touch screen menu to access “Service Mode”.
•
Select “Start update” from the touchscreen menu when prompted.
•
Follow all confirmation prompts throughout the USB update process as needed.
•
When a confirmation prompt is displayed indicating the update is completed, click “OK” on the

touchscreen menu.
Section 2 Software Version Management (SVM)

•
Connect the ODIS tester to the vehicle’s Data Link Connector (DLC)
•
Initiated Guided Fault Finding (GFF) and allow the tester to complete interrogation of all modules.
•
Once GFF module interrogation is completed, click on the “Special Functions” tab.
•
Under “5F – Information electronics 1 – J794”, select “Adapting Software”.
•
Select option 1 “Software update via measure code”.
•
Enter SVM code 3700.
•
Continue through the test plan, confirming all steps as needed.
•
Once the test plan is completed, exit GFF then remove the USB.
