B-Pillar when driving the vehicle on various road surfaces.
ACTION

affected B-Pillar.

SERVICE PROCEDURE
1.
Disconnect the vehicle’s 12 volt battery negative terminal.
•
Refer to the ESM: ELECTRICAL & POWER CONTROL > POWER SUPPLY,
GROUND & CIRCUIT ELEMENTS > REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION >
BATTERY
The following figures are of the driver (LH) side of the vehicle. The passenger (RH) side is
similar.

Remove the Center Pillar Lower
Finisher of the affected B-Pillar.

Remove any clips from the B-Pillar that detached from the Center Pillar Lower
Finisher and relocate them back to the Center Pillar Lower Finisher.

Locate the Center Pillar Lower Finisher clip hole on the B-Pillar that is shown in
Figure 3.
•
This will be the center clip hole on the left when facing the driver (LH) side, or the
center clip hole on the right when facing the passenger (RH) side inside B-Pillar.
HINT: Driver (LH) side shown in Figure 3.

HINT: In the next steps, either a 1/4-inch or 3/16-inch flat-faced punch can be used.
5.
Insert a 1/4-inch or 3/16-inch flat faced punch into the center clip hole that was
located in step 4 on page 3.
6.
Turn the punch toward the rear of the vehicle (Figure 4) until the flat-faced tip rests on
the inner support of the B-Pillar shown in Figure 5.

To avoid the risk of moderate personal injury and/or vehicle damage, confirm that the
vehicle battery has been disconnected before proceeding. If not disconnected, the curtain
airbag may deploy.
7.
Using a 2-pound ball-peen hammer (or
similar tool), make three (3) medium
hard strikes to the punch to slightly
relocate the inner support of the
B-Pillar.

8.
Reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly.
9.
Reconnect the vehicle battery.
10.
Perform any additional services that are required after a battery disconnect.
