TECHNICAL INSTRUCTIONS

FOR

SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN 26TD01
Front Spoiler Hardware

Certain 2025 Model Year 4Runner and 4Runner HV
The repair quality of covered vehicles is extremely important to Toyota. All dealership

technicians performing this recall are required to successfully complete the most current

version of the E-Learning course “Safety Recall and Service Campaign Essentials”. To

ensure that all vehicles have the repair performed correctly; technicians performing this

repair are required to currently have completed the following courses:

Always check which technicians can perform the repair by logging on to

https://toyotacertification.com/certlogin.jsp. It is the dealership’s responsibility to select

technicians that have completed the above courses to perform this repair. Carefully

review your resources, the technician’s skill level, and ability before assigning

technicians to this repair. It is important to consider technician days off and vacation

schedules to ensure there are properly trained technicians available to perform this

repair at all times.

The flow chart is for reference only. DO NOT use it in place of the full technical instructions. Follow ALL

steps as outlined in the full technical instructions to confirm the campaign is completed correctly.
II. IDENTIFICATION OF AFFECTED VEHICLES

1. CHECK VEHICLE FOR CAMPAIGN ELIGIBILITY

a. Compare the vehicles VIN to the VIN listed on the Repair Order to ensure they match.

b. Check the TIS Vehicle Inquiry System to confirm the VIN is involved in this recall, and that it has not already

been completed.

NOTICE:

TMNA warranty will not reimburse dealers for repairs completed on vehicles that are not affected or were

previously completed, even by another dealer.

IV. BACKGROUND

Some of the screws holding the front spoiler to the front bumper can become loose over time and the spoiler can partially

detach at the outer edge of the vehicle. In some cases, the front spoiler can rub against other vehicle components

during driving and cause an intermittent noise.

V. REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. REMOVE THE FRONT SPOILER ASSEMBLY

a) Locate and remove the 9 front spoiler bolts.

DO NOT DISCARD BOLTS OR REMOVE CLIPS IN LOCATIONS SHOWN ABOVE AND

DESIGNATED WITH YELLOW CIRCLES. THESE BOLTS AND CLIPS WILL BE REUSED.
DO NOT DISCARD 2 OF THESE BOLTS
DISCARD ALL OF THESE BOLTS

2. REMOVE BOTH SPOILER RETAINERS

a. Using a plastic trim tool, remove both spoiler retainers.

b. Once the front spoiler is removed, place in a safe location to avoid damage.
3. REMOVE LOWER 10mm FRONT FENDER LINER BOLT LH/RH

a. Remove the 10mm bolt for the lower front fender liner for the LH and

RH sides as shown in image. This bolt will be reused on both sides

and reinstalled in step 7.

REMOVE 7 BUMPER CLIPS
NOTE: LOCATIONS WHERE BOLTS ARE REUSED DO NOT HAVE METAL BUMPER CLIPS. DO NOT

ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THESE RETAINERS.

a. Remove 7 bumper clips
5. INSTALL 7 NEW BUMPER CLIPS

a. Install 7 new bumper clips

NOTE: ENSURE NEW CLIPS ARE USED. DO NOT REUSE THE OLD

BUMPER CLIPS.

6. REINSTALL FRONT SPOILER

a. Insert the centering pin to align the spoiler with the front bumper, then install the LH and RH retainers.
b.

Reinstall the 10mm bolt for the lower front

fender liner for the LH and RH sides.

Tighten bolt until snug.
NOTE: DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BOLTS.

7. Install the (7) NEW bolts to on front spoiler by hand.

a. Torque all the (7) bolts to 6.5 Nm (58 in lb) EXCEPT the bolts circled in yellow.
b. Tighten the two bolts in yellow circles above until snug

NOTE: Do not overtighten the two bolts that are circled in YELLOW.

Confirm new bumper clips are installed correctly

Confirm bolts are torqued to proper specifications

Confirm fender liners are secure
