PURPOSE: Update fasteners as a field fix
When complaints of sticking door glass on the b-pillar, or wind noise is considered, replacement to

updated production fasteners is required for the best repair. Removal is as described in this bulletin.

This will apply to both sides of the vehicle, replace fasteners for both sides when vehicle concern is

present even if on only one.

Remove the B-pillar applique (Fig 1). The passenger (right) side will disassemble and reassemble

same as the driver (left side shown). Retain any plastic washers used in previous assembly.

Note: Additional plastic washers can be used as shims to achieve flushness to door glass. Do not

exceed two washers per fastener.

Remove the installed push nuts, and replace with C144830407200 push nuts (Fig 2).

Reassembly torque for the b–pillar fastener screws is 2.5 +/-0.5Nm (T20 size in Fig 3).

Open both doors to access the seal bottom, pull it up to reveal T20 screws (Fig 4). Remove the

fasteners (Fig 5 and Fig 6), and pull up gently and the top clip will release (Fig 7).

Note: watch for any plastic shims that may fall, you will reuse these to maintain established fitment.

Remove the old in body clips (Fig 8).

Use a small pick tool to catch the inside of the clip and wiggle it out (Fig 8 and Fig 9).

Insert the new clips (these are very small Fig 10, and Fig 11, Fig 12)

Using a shim to apply pressure to the clip to pop it in place is helpful.

Hold the B-pillar applique in place and align the screws to the new clips, and place washers behind on

the screw as it is assembled, do not tighten one side fully until both are holding plastic shims. Once

seated, begin to tighten down, and press in the upper part of the applique so it snaps the clip into the

upper b - pillar (Fig 13). Proceed to torque the screws to the appropriate measurement in Fig 14 (2.5

+/- 0.5Nm) Check flushness to the door glass as below (Fig 15).

The b-pillar should now sit as flush as specification with minimal adjustment expected.
