SITUATION

“Rattling” noises heard from the area of the luggage compartment when driving over a rough road surface.

See attached video V33 01 25 “Rear strut noise”.
CAUSE

Function related noises of the dampening components.
CORRECTION

Replace the support bearings, auxiliary shock absorbers, stabilizer and stabilizer supports using the bolded

part numbers below.

Note: The bold part numbers below are not found on the G42 in AIR/ETK. Failure to use the

referenced part numbers from this SIB will result in an improper repair and not remedy the noise

complaint.

All remaining hardware can be found referencing the model G42.
PROCEDURE

Replace the rear stabilizer with supports as per REP 33 55 000 “Removing and installing/replacing rear antiroll bar”.

With the rear axle support lowered, replace the rear support bearings together with the auxiliary shock

absorbers as per REP 33 52 161 “Replacing support bearing for spring strut/shock absorber on the rear left

or right”.

the applicable Model, or enter the full VIN (17 characters) instead to proceed. Click on the “Flat Rate Units”

button and enter a flat rate labor operation code number “without spaces” in the field to the right, click on the

“Search” icon to display the corresponding listing of “Flat rate unit group details” that are available and their

corresponding FRU allowances.
