Customer findings:

The customer complains about one or more of the following issues with the overhead view camera system:

« One of the overhead view cameras is steamed up.
* — The overhead view camera system does not work (intermittent/static issue).

* Individual overhead view cameras do not work (intermittent/static issue).

* Multiple overhead view cameras do not work (intermittent/static issue).

Workshop findings:

It is only permitted to perform this TSB if Campaign 90TV recall has been performed. If Campaign 90TV has been
completed, then continue with the diagnosis steps described in this TSB

It is only permitted to perform this TSB if the software on the driver assist systems control unit J1121 corresponds
with the following versions:

Service

A) A single overhead view camera is fogged up or shows a milky or blurry image (all or some of the event
memory entries listed above are logged):

Because of deviations in the diagnostic capability of driver assist systems control unit -J1121-, an individual
overhead view camera (e.g. faulty overhead view camera, short circuit in the video cable, water ingress, etc.) can
cause a partial or complete failure of the overhead view camera system. All or some of the above DTCs are logged.

If necessary, replace the steamed-up overhead view camera with adapter wiring harness and take clear photos of
the complaint. To ensure a reference to the vehicle, the photo must include the chassis number and the date. The
photo must not be edited. The photo should be in focus and be taken with sufficient light. A high resolution is not
necessary. If appropriate, please mark the location of the problem so that parts analysis have a clear reference to
the complaint. Please ensure that the photo documentation does not show any persons and/or faces, vehicle
registration numbers (number plates) or customer data.

Please note that during the checks the vehicle must enter bus sleep mode so that the overhead view
camera system is reinitialized. Replacing driver assist systems control unit -J1121- without clear findings
will NOT resolve the issue.

B) One event memory entry is logged for one overhead view camera (there are no other event memory
entries):

Put the vehicle in bus sleep mode so that a reset of driver assist systems control unit -J1121- is performed and the
overhead view camera system is reinitialized.

Activate the overhead view camera system with the button AND then move the hood/rear lid and doors according to
the fitting location. At the same time, observe whether the camera image stays on and is displayed correctly.

If the event memory entry persists as the only entry and if it is identical to the observation above (otherwise continue
with chapter C), on this harness, check the data wire and the coupling points between driver assist systems control
unit -J1121- and the affected overhead view camera (-R243-/-R244-/-R245-/-R246-) for loose/incorrectly engaged
connectors, loose/pushed-back pins, corrosion and damage. If no cause can be found, the following measures must
be performed to narrow down the cause:

* Swap an individual overhead view camera with another one (e.g. -R244- with -R245-) to rule out a faulty
overhead view camera.

* Swap the video cable connection on driver assist systems control unit -J1121- with another one (e.g. video
cable of -R244- with video cable of -R245-) to rule out a faulty video cable. The connector housing on the
video cable has to be removed to do this.

Please note that during the checks the vehicle must enter bus sleep mode so that the overhead view
camera system is reinitialized. Replacing driver assist systems control unit -J1121- without clear findings
will NOT resolve the issue.

C) Multiple event memory entries relating to various cameras are logged (there is no active/static event
memory entry relating to a single overhead view camera)

Because of deviations in the diagnostic capability of driver assist systems control unit -J1121-, an individual
overhead view camera (e.g. faulty overhead view camera, short circuit in the video cable, water ingress, etc.) can
cause a partial or complete failure of the overhead view camera system. All or some of the above event memory
entries from the table above are logged.

Continue with step 1.

Step 1: Check repair history
Please check the repair history of the affected vehicle and check whether repairs described in step 2 and step 3.1 or
step 3.2 have already been performed. Then perform step 2 and/or step 3.1 as necessary.

If step 2 has already been performed, continue directly to step 3.1 or step 3.2.

Step 2: Replace the exterior mirror mountings

Please replace both exterior mirror mountings according to the instructions in the Workshop Manual.

Step 3: Replace all video cables

Replacing wiring harness for driver door and front passenger door

The video cables should only be replaced if the issue persists after replacing the exterior mirror
mountings (refer to step 2).

If the complaint persists after performing step 2, replace the wiring harness for the driver door and the wiring
harness for the front passenger door.
