Manufacturer Name: Hyundai Motor America

Vehicle Make: HYUNDAI

Vehicle Model: SANTA FE

Model Year: 2024

Summary

On November 18, 2025, at 24,370 miles, the vehicle suffered a catastrophic powertrain failure, triggering a dashboard warning: "Transmission system error! Check transmission oil immediately." The vehicle suffered a loss of reliable motive power. This sudden failure is a severe safety hazard that presents a high risk of stalling or stranding in active traffic, which is especially dangerous as this vehicle is used for a 40-mile round-trip school commute four days a week on local highways. The dealership replaced the transmission, keeping the vehicle out of service for 27 days. However, the exact same critical failure occurred a second time on December 24, 2025, at 24,878 miles. The vehicle was once again completely incapacitated and required a second transmission replacement as well as a new TCU, resulting in an additional 50 days out of service. Two catastrophic transmission failures within a 500-mile span on a brand new vehicle demonstrate a highly dangerous defect that puts the driver, passengers, and other motorists at unreasonable risk of a crash due to sudden loss of power.

Vehicle Make: MERCEDES BENZ

Vehicle Model: SLK280

Model Year: 2007

Summary

I am the owner of a 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLK280 with VIN: [XXX]. My vehicle was part of the Takata airbag recall, but the airbags were never replaced. Currently, the NHTSA recall status for my VIN shows "no active recalls," even though the repair was not completed. This creates a serious safety risk. I request that NHTSA investigate why my VIN is marked as remedied or closed despite the airbags not being replaced. I urge NHTSA to take appropriate action to ensure the recall is properly addressed for my vehicle and others in similar situations. Thank you for your attention to this important safety matter. Manufacturer Name: Nissan North America, Inc.

Vehicle Make: NISSAN

Vehicle Model: VERSA

Model Year: 2024

Summary

The car has 56000 miles and the power train is still under warranty. The CVT belt recently started slipping. When I stop and then take off normally, there is a jitter in the transmission that can be felt and heard. Sometimes it is quite loud and vibrated quite heavily to the point there is concern it will break or fail. It also hesitates at times when accelerating from a stop or slow down and you can hear and feel the slippage before it kicks in. I took it to St Charles Nissan stating they test drove it and the jittering happened twice. The dealership says that Nissan told them this is normal ans all Nissans do this in Ludington new ones. Mine did not do this when it was new. My daughter has a new Nissn Versa and hers does not do this. The dealership says they can investigate further by re wording the anomaly and will charge me if Nissan says they won't cover it under warranty. Very distressing.

Vehicle Model: HR-V

Model Year: 2020

Summary

I have a 2020 Honda HRV and the gas gauge flickers on and off. I have overheard technicians say this is a common problem with the HRV. The dealer wants to charge 177 to hook it up on the computer to diagnose the HRV. This HRV has only 20,000 miles on it. It has struts that are going bad and this HRV has had all the services done. My wife drives it 2.6 miles a day. I think these issues need to be looked into further.

Vehicle Make: TOYOTA

Vehicle Model: SIENNA HYBRID

Model Year: 2025

Summary

We were notified by Toyota that it was unsafe to transport our children in the second row seats in October 2025 and the vehicle was under a recall. This puts our children at risk. A letter from NHTSA stated Toyota would have a remedy by 12/6. The manufacturer (Toyota) confirmed this recall. Given that Toyota has not indicated a solution date for this and the problem was discovered in October 2025 I believe the manufacturer has failed or is unable to remedy this safety recall for our vehicle in a timely manner and would like to officially log a complaint with NHTSA

Vehicle Make: BMW

Vehicle Model: 228I

Model Year: 2022

Summary

We were picking up my wife’s 2022 BMW 228xi after having tinting applied to windows. As I was in the office paying for the work, my wife put her purse in the car and sat in the driver’s seat. She noticed the seat was too low and that her booster pad had been moved to the passenger seat. She had not touched any of the car's controls and was starting to turn to exit the car so she could place the pad in the driver’s seat. As she was beginning to turn, she heard the engine start and the car went into a full throttle acceleration which pushed her against the seat back. Before she could react to try to control the car, it was speeding down the parking lot and in 4 to 5 seconds reached the end of the lot and went over an approximate 40 foot bluff. Airborne, she passed over State Road 1460 and impacted a tree in the forest beyond the road. 911 was called and shortly after the Fire Department arrived to remove my wife from her car. An EMS unit transferred her to the Trauma 1 ER at a nearby hospital to treat her serious injuries. After seventeen days in the hospital she was transferred to a skilled nursing facility to continue her recovery

Vehicle Model: CAMRY

Model Year: 2012

Summary

The "incident" is not a fault or flaw of my car in any way, but rather is caused by the auto industry's general shift to LED/HID headlights. In my opinion, they make driving unsafe for external observers because they are too bright and create a lot of glare, so that keeping my eyes focused and perceptive of features I need to see in the road directly ahead of me is becoming increasingly difficult, and therefore, by definition, more unsafe. Technology must be improved so that headlights can alter spectral output according to background illumination (dimmer means cooler,) and light output should have finer, adaptive directional control so that more light gets to objects in front that need to be illuminated, and less to oncoming drivers whose visual contrast range may be overwhelmed. I'm [XXX] , and I have the beginnings of cataracts. Older, halogen-based headlights don't interfere much with my vision, but modern headlights do, and quite badly so. This has to improve! Summary

2013 Hyundai Veloster 2013 turbo had 69000 miles when the engine stalled on the highway and promptly slowed to 40 mph. Midas stated engine blew due to a recall so I had it towed to the closest dealership in Oct 2022. They denied the repair and sent it to corporate for authorization and it was denied. Dealership attempted to charge 150 for checking the recall. They then told me to talk to Corporate hyundai. I have went back and forth with them trying to get an explanation for the denial to fix the recall. They wouldn't send the explanation. I refiled the claim again sending them recall laws as well. Recently I received a call from the dealership stating they had the car towed and destroyed. Help
