Summary
The internal water pump failed on my 2008 Ford Edge (3.5L V6), allowing coolant to leak into the engine oil. This caused catastrophic engine damage and complete engine failure. The water pump is internally mounted and driven by the timing chain. When it fails, coolant contaminates the oil, destroying the engine without adequate warning. There was no external leak prior to failure. This is a known issue affecting many Ford vehicles with this engine design.

Summary
My 2018 Jeep Cherokee suffered a Power Transfer Unit (PTU) failure in February 2025 while my family was on vacation. The vehicle was delivered to Walker Jeep in Alexandria, Louisiana and has remained there for approximately one year. I reside in Texas, approximately five hours away. The failure involves the same PTU defect covered under Safety Recall 01C (NHTSA 25V-011). Stellantis’ Part 573 filing acknowledged the defect and scheduled final remedy notification in February 2026. After holding my vehicle for approximately 12 months awaiting recall remedy availability, I was recently informed that my vehicle does not qualify for recall coverage. Stellantis is now offering either a $4,000 buyback or requiring approximately $6,000 out-of-pocket for repair. The vehicle has been undriveable for one year due to a defect covered under a federal safety recall. I am requesting investigation into recall compliance, unreasonable delay of remedy, and denial of coverage after prolonged deprivation of use.

Summary
Wife’s 2020 Jeep Wrangler’s IPC above the steering wheel went blank. No speed, no fuel gauge, no odometer or warning lights, no turn signal indicators. Chrysler Safety Recall (30B) (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 24V652000) states there is a problem with these including our year Wrangler, 2020. Dealer said we are out of luck because when they type in our vin number into their database, no safety recalls are listed. This problem is all over the internet 2018-2024 Wrangler (JL) models. What gives???? Don’t even know how much gas we have! 6 year old car should NOT have the IPC shut off! If that’s not a safety concern, don’t know what is????

I started my truck and was driving it started to shake and felt forced. Making a sound vibration . I received a message on dashboard " Reduce acceleration drive with care" it felt like I was going to loose power so I turned into the parking lot and had it towed to chevrolet dealership for service. The safety was good in the sense that I parked the vehicle into a parking lot to prevent accidents in the freeway. The dealership claims it's my engine needs replacement.

Summary
The attachment for the rear defrost failed. The wiring for the rear defrost was poorly attached (bad glue?) to the back window. With the lack of trunk, jeeps end up with lots of moisture spraying onto the back window and freezing. This poor design causes a hazard by limiting visibility to solely the side mirrors.

The contact owns a 2021 GMC Yukon XL. The contact stated that while his wife was driving approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle started to lose motive power with the message "Service Transmission Now" displayed. The driver was unable to shift the vehicle into reverse(R) and turned around and returned to the residence. The contact and his wife researched online and found that there was a recall for the transmission for the year and model under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train). The contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the transmission valve body had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact discussed the recall and was advised by the dealer that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

Summary
The driver and passenger side sunvisors have both failed. The piece that holds the visor in place is apparently plastic and breaks easily, causing the visor to malfunction. This sounds minor, but not in winter when the sun is low on the horizon and blinding to the driver. The first visor I replaced was in 2021 (on a 2020 jeep). You have to replace the entire assembly (not just the part). Both sides have failed repeatedly. After driving around for months with the visors bungee corded up, to keep them from hanging and flopping around, I have now had my mechanic install after market brackets. This is a well known problem among mechanics that work on newer Jeeps. This may sound minor, but I do feel its an accident waiting to happen when driving towards oncoming traffic when the sun is low. Note that this jeep is primarily driven on paved roads - it is not being driven repeatedly off road in crazy conditions.

Summary
At 25°F (-4°C), the vehicle’s Direct Adaptive Steering (DAS) system suffered a total loss of power assist triggered by a transient low-voltage condition during startup. The engine failed to crank twice with a flickering battery icon before starting on the third attempt; notably, the DAS, VDC, and Master Warning lamps only appeared after the voltage drop, indicating a systemic logic failure rather than a hardware fault. Upon ignition, the vehicle entered a "mechanical backup mode" where steering became physically heavy and immovable by standard driver effort, constituting an unreasonable risk to safety and a crash hazard. Although AAA confirmed a 53% battery charge, a new battery did not restore functionality, as the DAS remained in a permanent logic deadlock requiring a 3-unit software re-initialization of the DAS control modules. A clerical error on the service invoices incorrectly suggests the failure occurred after the battery replacement; factually, the steering failure was the precipitating event that necessitated the battery service, and the subsequent logic lockout confirms the defect is software-based. This incident matches the exact failure mode and environmental conditions of NHTSA Recall 16V-430 (Campaign R1610). Inspections by AAA, an independent shop, and an Infiniti dealer confirmed no mechanical damage. Infiniti has refused to remedy this safety defect, claiming this VIN was excluded from the 16V-430 batch despite the vehicle manifesting the identical failure mode and safety risk. I am formally petitioning for a Recall Query (RQ) to investigate a Recall Expansion. The current scope is insufficient, as excluded vehicles are suffering the same catastrophic steering lockout which represents a significant public safety risk.
