Summary

Brakes have been squealing since 6500 miles. The dealer resurfaced the rotors and cleaned the pads only for the brakes to be squealing again. The dealer has cleaned the brakes and applied "squeak stop" only for the brakes to continue to squeal. The service guide from GM says if brakes are making any noises they need to be "inspected immediately" however I'm being told there's nothing further to be done. How do I know if the squealing (which is truly happening every time I drive the vehicle) is normal or if there's a larger and more concerning issue?

Summary

Previous on board charger (GHCA) failed and was replaced in January of 2026. In February I noticed the car was charging slowly on a 48A home charger (car showed 5.4kw at 22A). I unplugged the charger, waited a minute, and plugged it back in. The car then reinitialized charging and showed 11kw at 48A. The car then started making audible electrical crackling noises. I have a video in which you can hear the crackling. Is this a fire hazard?

Manufacturer Name: Hyundai Motor America

Vehicle Make: HYUNDAI

Vehicle Model: ELANTRA

Model Year: 2013

Summary

The vehicle has developed a pronounced knocking noise that was diagnosed by your authorized dealership as “piston slap.” I was informed by dealership staff that this is a known issue with this vehicle. However, because the vehicle is outside of warranty by time and mileage, I was told no repair assistance would be provided. My primary concern is safety. While there are currently no warning lamps illuminated, the engine is producing a consistent knocking noise. If this condition progresses to piston or engine failure while the vehicle is in operation, it could cause sudden loss of power or engine seizure. Such a failure at highway speeds or in traffic could create a serious accident risk to myself and others. Additionally, I was charged one hour of diagnostic labor, despite the dealership immediately recognizing the noise as piston slap without needing further testing. This raises concern that: The issue is well-known, The condition was identifiable without extensive diagnosis, Yet I was still billed for a full diagnostic hour. Given that this is acknowledged as a known issue, I am requesting: A formal review of this case by your product safety and quality department. Clarification on whether this condition has been the subject of technical service bulletins, extended coverage programs, or internal advisories. Consideration of goodwill repair assistance due to the potential safety implications. Reimbursement of the diagnostic charge, as no true diagnostic procedure appears to have been required. Written confirmation that continued operation of the vehicle in its current condition does not present a safety risk. I am prepared to provide service records, invoices, and any additional documentation needed. Given the potential safety implications, I respectfully request a response within 48 hours. I am hopeful the manufacturer will stand behind the safety and reliability of its product and address this matter promptly.

Summary

There was a failure of the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) on my Hyundai Ioniq 5. We were driving home from the beach, approximately 1 mile away. When I turned the car on and started driving home, the dashboard lit up with an error and the vehicle turned on the "turtle" mode, which limited my speed. I managed to make it into my subdivision where it finally died and I was unable to get it into garage. Vehicle would not turn on, would start up momentarily, lots of errors, screen would flash, and then nothing. Very scarily, the wheels would not park and remained in neutral. This made it easy to load onto a tow truck, but scary that it could only be stopped on a flat surface. Mine and my wife's safety was at risk, as we were nearly stranded on the side of the road, I hate to imagine if this happened on a highway. The dealer confirmed our ICCU blew and we had our car back about 2 weeks later. The dealer inspected and replaced the component under warranty. This ICCU issue must be fixed by Hyundai, or at least extend the warranty. This is unacceptable.

Vehicle Model: SOLITUDE

Model Year: 2022

Summary

• Cracks in the Pin Box: A reputable RV dealer/shop has identified significant cracks in the pin box, indicating a serious structural compromise. • Slide-out failures: The GIBs on the slide-outs have broken, causing them to extend while the RV is in transport on highways. • Cargo door malfunctions: Cargo doors are repeatedly popping open during highway travel. • Main entry door instability: The front door and screen are not operating correctly, preventing proper closure and causing the door to open unexpectedly during transport. • Structural fastener failure: Screws and bolts are detaching from the unit during transport. • Front cap detachment: The front cap is popping open at the fifth-wheel hitch area and exhibiting significant sway during transport. These issues collectively indicate a severe underlying problem with the structural integrity and frame of the 2022 Grand Design Solitude, creating hazardous conditions for both the occupants and other road users. I urge NHTSA to investigate these defects thoroughly to prevent potential accidents and ensure consumer safety.
