Summary
On 2/5/2026, my "brake booster" failed while trying to leave the parking lot of a restaurant. When I put car in reverse I had my foot on the brake, I heard an usual sound and quickly realized the brake was not holding as I was moving backward. I had to reapply brake pressure HARD in order to stop, once while backing up and once again to pull forward so I wasn't blocking anyone from maneuvering around me. I was towed to Hanania Subaru where they identified the "brake booster" failed. My vehicle is ready today, 2/18/2026 to pick up and I'll return the Subaru loaner vehicle. Apparently the problem was an electronic failure code and replacing the brake booster was all that was needed. Fortunately, I was not driving in traffic when it failed and I'm told this type of failure is extremely rare. I do appreciate the ability to document this potential hazard to NHTSA.

Summary
I am filing this complaint due to repeated and dangerous electrical and hybrid system failures in my 2024 Dodge Hornet, which have resulted in sudden loss of acceleration, loss of braking performance, dashboard warning lights, and system malfunctions while driving. The vehicle has been serviced multiple times at Meadowland of Carmel Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/Ram with the following documented incidents: • Check engine light and loss of acceleration on highway – Vehicle would not accelerate while driving on the highway. • Repeated highway loss of power – Vehicle drops speed while driving and will not accelerate, requiring me to pull over and shut the vehicle off to regain acceleration. • Battery/Hybrid system malfunction – Vehicle experienced abnormal battery percentage drops and required multiple software flashes and reprogramming of PCM, hybrid control processor, and transmission control modules. • Grinding noise from engine with complete loss of acceleration – Vehicle had to be towed. Dealer found active hybrid generator performance code (P0A92). The motor generator unit (MGU) was found to have failed and required replacement. • All dashboard warning lights illuminated / Drive mode unavailable message – Vehicle would not accelerate and multiple control modules required flashing and updates. • Brake pedal went soft – Loss of normal brake pedal feel was reported. • Electrical communication faults – Stored codes for lost communication with AC compressor control module and cabin air heater module. • Frozen backup camera (intermittent issue not always replicated at dealer) – Rearview camera screen has frozen while reversing, creating risk of collision. The most serious safety concern is the repeated loss of acceleration while driving at highway speeds, forcing me to pull over in active traffic. Additionally, the soft brake pedal and electronic failures raise concerns about braking reliability. These failures create a serious risk of crash or injury to myself and others.

The vehicle produces an extremely loud static or popping blast from the speakers at startup or during operation. The volume controls do not respond and the noise can only be stopped by shutting the vehicle off. The sound is ear-piercing, leaves ringing in the ears, and startles the driver. This has occurred more than once. One incident happened while driving on the freeway and nearly caused a loss of control due to the sudden and extremely loud noise. Another occurrence was captured on video while the vehicle was being operated at low speed. The condition occurs without warning and cannot be reproduced on demand. The vehicle is equipped with the B&O Unleashed audio system. No warning lights or messages appear prior to the event. A dealer acknowledged the condition and indicated that a module reprogramming is required to correct it. Ford has issued Special Service Message (SSM) 51663 addressing loud static from the audio system in affected vehicles. Despite the vehicle being under an extended warranty, the corrective repair is being classified as a software update and quoted as a customer-paid repair. This unexpected loud audio blast presents a safety concern due to driver distraction and potential hearing harm.

The contact owns a 2022 Thor Motor Coach Magnitude. The contact stated that the solar inverter failed to function as intended. The contact was unable to turn off or turn off the inverter. The warning lights were illuminated. A mobile RV mechanic arrived at the residence and diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the inverter Freedom 2000 was underrated for the vehicle and the compartment was not vented for heat. The contact was informed that the compartment was extremely HOT, and the metal inside turned blue where the positive wire was attached to the bolt. The mobile mechanic stated that it was luck that the recreation vehicle did not catch fire. The inverter Freedom Xantrex 2000 was replaced with an inverter Freedom Xantrex 3000. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the warranty had expired and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 28,846. The VIN was not available.

This has happened twice. They “fixed” it and returned it to me and it did it again. I was about to pull out into traffic, once on the interstate and another time on a 2 lane highway… right as I hit the gas to pull out the car lurches forward and dies. Comes to a complete stop. It won’t crank back up, it won’t go into neutral or drive or reverse. The electoral system goes crazy and all lights start going off. One car had to go in the median to avoid colliding with me. I’m waiting on a police report but this was so scary I’m terrified to drive my car. The first time 4 weeks ago they said total electrical failure and fixed it. I drove it another few weeks and it did it again. The cop told me that I could have killed aomeone because when it stopped it didn’t even roll. The break was locked. We couldn’t push it out of traffic. We had to call a wrecker.
